Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty is recognized as a popular facial cosmetic surgery procedure that may be performed on the eyelids. As one of the most well regarded cosmetic facial surgeons in New York City, Dr. Mir has performed hundreds of eyelid surgeries with results that appear both flawless and natural.

What Is A Blepharoplasty?

The purpose of blepharoplasty, commonly referred to as an eyelid lift, is to enhance the look of the upper and lower eyelids. It is often used to treat puffiness, wrinkles, and sagging or drooping skin around the eyes. The skin around our eyes may droop and become loose as we age, making us seem older and more worn-out than we really are. By removing extra skin and fat from the eyelids, blepharoplasty may help restore a more youthful and rejuvenated look. Depending on the patient’s unique needs and objectives, either the upper or lower eyelids may be treated during this surgery.

What Conditions Can Blepharoplasty Treat?

Blepharoplasty can treat the following conditions:

  • Excess fatty deposits that cause puffiness in the upper eyelids
  • Extra, sagging skin from the top eyelid that is causing folds or hooding and obstructing the eyelid’s natural shape
  • Impaired vision
  • Lower eyelid bags
  • Wrinkles or fine lines that have developed due to the natural aging process.
  • Among many others…

What To Expect During Blepharoplasty Surgery

Since each blepharoplasty surgery is tailored to each patient they will vary slightly from one another. In general, incisions are often made in the natural fold of your upper eyelid and just below the lash line of your lower eyelid. This makes it possible to reach the underlying muscles and fat. During the process, the extra fat is eliminated or relocated, and if necessary, the muscle may be strengthened. The surplus skin is then cut off, and the wound is then stitched up with tiny sutures.

One of Dr. Mir’s goals for your eyelid surgery is to minimize the visibility of your incisions. Although certain incisions are necessary for the procedure, they are positioned carefully to assist them in blending in as little as possible. During your follow-up appointments, your expert will go over all of the significant scar care techniques you may use to assist maximize your incision and outcomes.

What Is The Recovery After Blepharoplasty?

After the treatment, you may return home to unwind and heal. Most people recover completely within the first few days, and we provide you with all the medicine, soothing eye wraps, and supplies you need to get through this.

As it is typical to suffer some swelling and bruising following the procedure, 2 weeks is often a safe window of downtime when considering time off work or away from social activities. To stop persistent swelling brought on by the rise in your blood pressure, you should refrain from heavy lifting and intense activity for four weeks.
